Photography for this service is being finalised — imagery below shows a comparable VELUX installation.
For an even more substantial transformation, a roof terrace arrangement can connect an upper-floor room with usable outside space where the property and roof configuration allow it. This is a specialist installation that needs careful planning and assessment.
Create Indoor-Outdoor Living at Roof Level
Particularly attractive for:
- Major loft conversions
- Master bedroom suites
- High-end renovations
- Properties with extensive views
- Attic living spaces
Large areas of glazing can also dramatically increase the amount of natural daylight entering the room.
Specialist Installation
Roof terrace projects require considerably more consideration than fitting an individual roof window. Structural requirements, waterproofing, roof construction, access, safety and planning requirements may all need to be considered before installation. We can assess the initial project and help determine the appropriate next steps.

What the Spec Sheet Says
A roof terrace isn't a single off-the-shelf VELUX product — it's a larger engineered combination of glazing and access, so the specification is built around the individual property rather than a fixed part number.
- As a rule of thumb, VELUX recommends glazing equal to around 15–20% of the room's floor area for adequate daylight, rising to 25–30% in rooms that are more shaded or north-facing.
- Because a terrace connects a room directly to usable outside space, structural loading, access, guarding and drainage all need to be assessed together, not just the glazing itself.
- Combination flashing systems allow multiple roof windows and glazed panels to be joined into one larger weathertight opening, using either a classic installation (retaining the rafter between windows) or an integrated installation (removing it for a seamless run of glass).
