Some rooms simply aren't suitable for a conventional roof window. A sun tunnel provides another way of bringing natural daylight from the roof into darker areas of the property.
Where Sun Tunnels Work Best
Particularly useful for:
- Hallways
- Landings
- Staircases
- Bathrooms
- Internal rooms
- Walk-in wardrobes
- Corridors
A roof-mounted unit collects daylight, which is then directed through a reflective tunnel into the room below.
Natural Light Where You Didn't Think It Was Possible
Sun tunnels can make previously dark spaces feel brighter and more welcoming without requiring a conventional window opening.
Technical Specifications
What the Spec Sheet Says
Sun tunnels are a genuinely different product from a roof window — sized and rated more like ductwork than glazing, since the light has to travel through the tube rather than straight into the room.
- Rigid tunnels come in two diameters, 25cm and 35cm, with the larger size suited to bigger or darker rooms.
- A standard kit includes 2 metres of ultra-reflective rigid tube, extendable with additional 600mm or 1200mm sections where the loft space is deeper.
- Rigid tunnels are rated for roof pitches between 15° and 60°, with a toughened glass dome at the roof end.
- The system carries a U-value of around 2.9 W/m²K, reflecting that it's designed for daylighting rather than as a full opening window.
